Effects of Curcumin on Changes in Spermatogenetic Cells of Rats Treated with Cisplatin

Cisplatin is an effective antineoplastic drug which used to treat many types of cancer. The most common known side effect this infertility. Curcumin, also called turmeric, has antioxidant and antitumor activities. This study was designed investigate the effects curcumin on changes in spermatogenetic cells caused by cisplatin, as a chemotherapeutic especially testicular cancers. For purpose, randomly selected 36 Spraque Dawley rats were seperated 4 groups that control, curcumin+cisplatin each group 3 subgroups, them have rats, so total 12 subgroups obtained. tissues obtained from evaluated histochemically, immunohistochemically ultrastructually. In results study, it observed rate apoptosis increased significantly experimental given together with cisplatin injection, transition-1 protein involved DNA packaging elongated spermatids belonging stages XII, XIII XIV, immunopositivity statistically cisplatin-administered compared control groups. Both light electron microscopic findings showed intense degeneration, vacuolization, germ cell loss arrest occurred cisplatin. our can cause problems infertility through dragging necrosis. Physicians who use for cancer treatment are advised not because exacerbates drug.
